What We Believe

We can be flexible with our systems and processes and have to constantly change our methods if we desire to be relevant in our community. But when it comes to our beliefs, these are the unchanging non-negotiables that ground us. We fully believe in all of the fundamental truths of God’s Word.

VISION

Come. Grow. Live.

The Bible is God Inspired – 2 Timothy 3:16,17

The Bible is our compass for living. The Old and New Testament is given by God for us to study so we can apply its lessons. Scripture is the ultimate authority for life.
Scripture is the ultimate authority for life.
God is the One True God and Jesus Christ is His Son – John 17:3
There is one all powerful God that is the creator of Heaven and Earth. He loved us so much that he sent his Son so we can have a relationship with Him. Jesus Christ is fully God who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, taught truth, died on a cross, and resurrected from the dead. His same healing power is available for us today.

People Sin. God Saves – Romans 6:23

We mess up and the Bible calls it sin. God created us in his own image, but we chose disobedience. We deserve death and separation from God, but by his grace through his Son Jesus we can be forgiven. By trusting God as our Lord and Savior, we can experience freedom and live an amazing life.

Communion and Water Baptism – Acts 2:41,42

There are two ways we can remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. Communion is memorial and a celebration. The eucharist consists of two elements: the bread helps reminds of his body and the cup reminds of his blood. The Bible encourages us to follow his example by being immersed in water as soon as possible after we make a decision to follow him. It is a public way for us to show that we are changed.

One-Eighty Lifestyle – Romans 12:1,2

God welcomes us the way we are, but change begins to happen from the inside out. We stop living for ourselves and desire to glorify God by our actions and words.

The Holy Spirit – Acts 1:8

The baptism of the Holy Spirit gives us power to share the good news of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin. He gives us different gifts so we can build up the church and love others. The gifts of the spirit demonstrated in an orderly way are a beautiful and vital part of the church.

The Church – Ephesians 4:12

The church is filled with authentic followers of Jesus who follow the New Testament church in its five purposes. The mission of the church is to become friends with the unconvinced so there may be opportunities for them to become life long followers of Christ.

God’s Plan for the End Times – 1 Thessalonians 4:17

The Bible says that Jesus will return to the earth to bring his followers to Heaven. There will be a final judgement in which the dead will be resurrected and judged. Everyone whose name is not in the Book of Life, will be separated for eternity in Hell. Those whose names are written in the Book of Life will be rewarded and spend eternity with other followers in Christ in Heaven.

I’m New

What to Expect

It’s a big deal visiting a new church for the first time…It’s easy to feel out of place. Do I belong here? Am I really welcome? Will the people be too friendly or not friendly enough? Will I stand out? Will they ask me for money? Will my kids enjoy it? How should I dress? Can I come even if I’m not sure what I believe?
At Spring Green Community Church , we want to make your visit a good one – easy, straightforward, uncomplicated. We are intentionally “user-friendly” for people, no matter what their background – you don’t have to have church ‘figured out’ to walk through our door. In fact, many of our people were not regular church attenders before finding SGCC, so you’re in good company! Here is a brief overview of what you can expect at your first visit.

Showing up

When you arrive at SGCC (151 E Bossard) for our 9:15 Sunday School (Children and Adults, during the school year only) or our 10:30am services for both Worship and children’s church, you’ll find ample parking with parking reserved for guests (the first section when you enter the parking lot).
At the front door, you will likely find a friendly face to say hello and answer any questions you have. If you have kids, our Welcome Center Hosts will gladly direct you to age-appropriate opportunities.
You’ll notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, in everything from “office casual” to jeans and flip-flops. If you’ve got a minute, please help yourself to a cup of coffee near the entrance, and pick up information in the lobby area.

Through the doors

When you enter the auditorium, you’ll be given a bulletin with a Connect Card which is a simple way for us to get better acquainted. The service usually begins with a welcome and greeting followed by some upbeat music led by our worship team . The message time (usually about 30 minutes) is Biblically based, relevant to daily life, interesting, and enjoyable.
When it is all over, if we do our job right, you should have experienced solid Christian teaching in intelligent, understandable and relevant terms. Our goal is to provide everyone who walks through our door a genuine experience of God that can be transformational.

From Pastor Kendall

Have you ever felt you were being given a second chance? Maybe a second chance for the tenth time? And
maybe you are like me and you, too, have found hope in the strangest places. That is the sermon series we
are currently in. Second Chances – Finding hope in the strangest places. It is my prayer that God encourages
you and brings you further down the road in your walk with Him because of this series. I know studying for
this series has done that for me. Ephesians 3:20-21NLT says, “20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through
his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him
in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” That is my prayer for this
series, that God will accomplish infinitely more than we might think or ask, both personally and as a church
body. Here is what is coming up in May and June:

June 22 Finding Hope After Failure John 21:15-17
June 29 Finding Hope After Being Ripped Off Philemon
The Month of July is “Family Month” on Sunday mornings. This is where we invite the kids
to sit in the front of the audience and join us for family friendly talks which are good for the
whole family. We will be learning about “Trust God Series.” Here is what is coming
up in July:
July 6  No Matter Who You are……..Trust God!
July 13  No Matter How You Feel…..Trust God!
July 20 No Matter What People Do…..Trust God!
July 27 No Matter What Happens…Trust God!
You can get a sneak peak by reading your Bible. That’s what I am doing.
Remember, “I can’t read your Bible for you.”
